An intruder was arrested after breaching the grounds of the Windsor estate, just minutes away from where Prince William and Princess Kate reside with their three children.
The Sun reported that the suspect — a man in his 30s — was believed to be under the influence of drugs when he scaled a wall near Town Gate around 1 pm on Sunday, June 1st.
Met Police officers from the Royal and Specialist Protection Command, who are responsible for security within the castle, quickly intercepted the man before he could go any further and arrested him on suspicion of trespassing on a protected site and possessing Class A drugs.
After an extensive check by the Met Police, the intruder was then handed over to Thames Valley Police — the local force responsible for the area outside the castle’s perimeters. He has since been released on bail as investigations continue.
“He was quickly challenged by Met police officers and arrested. He did not enter the inner grounds of Windsor Castle,” a Thames Valley Police spokesperson confirmed to GB News.
Although the Prince and Princess of Wales are staying at their Adelaide Cottage residence on the Windsor estate, it remains unclear if they or their children were home at the time of the break-in.
Sources said the incident caused “quite a stir,” but there was no indication of malicious intent “at this stage.”
