The 2025 hit Netflix psychological crime drama series, Adolescence, which stars 15-year-old actor Owen Cooper, leads the Gotham TV Awards.

Cooper, who portrays a young murder suspect in the series, took home the Gotham TV Award for Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Limited Series.

The young actor got permission from school to extend his half-term holidays and attend the prestigious event on Monday in New York City.

Cooper stepped on the stage to thank his parents “for creating me,” with laughter. He also praised co-star Erin Doherty, the psychologist in the play, who was also nominated for the same award.

“Main person that I have to thank is Erin,” Cooper acknowledged, “who is also nominated for this award. That episode that we did together, it was easy to do it with you and it was such an honour to share this, share this award with you. You deserve this award just as much as I do, so round of applause for Erin, please.”

Cooper furthermore extends his thanks to Philip Barantini, Joe Johnson, Stephen Graham, Hannah Walters, and everyone included in the Adolescence cast and crew.

Moreover, the executive producer and the father of the convicted murderer, Stephen Graham, also took home the award for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Limited Series.

Besides, Netflix’s series Adolescence won the exclusive award for Breakthrough Limited Series.

Moreover, London Mayor Sadiq Khan has also praised the TV series for addressing the “epidemic of violence against women and girls” in the U.K. and the unregulated use of social media.

Khan gave credit to Stephen Graham and Netflix for the impactful show.
