English actress Emma Watson's father has cautioned the parents of the new Harry, Ron and Hermione about the impact of fame on children as filming for the HBO TV series filming gets underway.
After months of speculation, the most recent leading trio was finally revealed this week. Dominic McLaughlin was cast as the title character, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
Chris Watson, Emma's father, has revealed how he put a lot of effort into keeping her "grounded." The 35-year-old played Hermione in the Harry Potter film series for ten years.
"As a parent, you have to be scared," he said on Times Radio. For a parent and child, this may or may not be a very challenging situation.
However, he also mentioned, “It was easier for us to keep her grounded because I don't really watch films and it's not a big deal in the house.”
As of June 2025, Emma Watson is not married. She keeps her personal life private and ended her last relationship in 2023.
