Canadian singer Abel Tesgaye, popularly known by his stage name The Weeknd, is one of the most successful musicians of the century, however the singer had a much humble life before he became famous.
The singer opened up about his life before getting famous as he talked about the humble job he had before he started making music.
In a surprise revelation, Abel said that he is still working with his then-boss after all these years.
The Star boy singer appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on May 15 and confessed that his biggest goal before going big was to quit his job.
“I was working at American Apparel”, the singer said, “I was like 19; I was trying to fold clothes.”
The 35-year-old revealed that at the time “nobody knew what I looked like” because of his mysterious persona.
“People working at American Apparel started playing the music. And that was the validation I needed. I was like, 'I'm quitting this job, and this is mine. Yeah, it's my full-time life,”.
The singer also revealed that he still works with his then-boss as he is his creative director now who “does all my typography for my albums now,”.
