Globally recognised singer and songwriter, Ed Sheeran, has announced that his eighth album, Play, will be coming out on September 12, through Gingerbread Records/Atlantic Records.
On 1st May, Thursday, the Grammy-winning artist released the first song, Old Phone, co-produced with Ilya Salmanzadeh and Blake Slatkin, from the upcoming Album.
Talking about his forthcoming album, the record-breaking hit maker Sheeran said that this upcoming album is a response to the “darkest period” of his life. He shared that while he was touring in Goa, India, he wanted to create joy and explore the culture of the country.
“It’s a real rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish, it encapsulates everything that I love about music, and the fun in it, but also where I am in life as a human, a partner, a father,” the singer said.
While planning this album campaign, the genre-blending musician confessed that he wanted everything to be “fun and playful”.
“so that’s why we are building pubs for folk jams, doing gigs on open-top buses and singing in pink cowboy hats on bars,” said Ed.
He wants to enjoy things more and save each moment as he grows older.
The tracklist of the forthcoming album Play includes Opening, Sapphire, Azizam, Old Phone, Symmetry, Camera, In Other Words, A Little More, Slowly, and many more.
Fans can preorder the Play now before it comes out.
