Amy Poehler talks playing husband’s sister in ‘Blades of Glory’

Amy Poehler appeared on the Las Culturistas podcast where she opened up about playing her ex husband’s sister in Blades of Glory.

“That was really fun,” she said, “And here’s a fun story about that. Will Arnett and I played brother and sister, but we were actually married in real life. And they tested that movie and the testing, they were like, ‘We hate Stranz and Fairchild.’”

“In 2002, two Olympic ice skaters, who are rivals, are deprived of their gold medals and are debarred from men's singles events. But they discover an anomaly which makes them fight as an all-male duo,” reads the synopsis of the film.

Reflecting on how the couple had reacted to the dislike of the characters, she exclaimed, “We were like, ‘Well, we’re the villains!’ But to the directors’ [Josh Gordon and Will Speck] credit, I think they kept a lot of it in. But yeah, we did tons of photo shoots and DVD extras.”

The pair are the proud parents of two children, welcoming son Archie in 2008 and son Abel in 2010.They went on to announce their separation in 2012.
