Meghan Markle’s latest ventures have drawn criticism from a leading brand expert who claims her lack of focus is why so many of her projects fail to gain long-term traction.

Since stepping back from royal duties five years ago, the Duchess of Sussex has dabbled in several industries. But according to brand and culture expert Nick Ede, it’s Meghan’s "slap-dash" approach that’s holding her back.

Speaking to The Sun, Ede said: “Meghan hasn’t really earned her stripes yet. She’s not the fashionista yet, she’s not the cook yet, she’s not the make-up expert yet. Nothing feels particularly rounded in actual knowledge, so people begin to turn off.”

“Everything feels like a scattergun approach. Nothing seems thought out or strategised. She and Harry seem to think, ‘Yes, I’ll take the money, and work out what to do afterwards.’”

By contrast, Kate Middleton’s long-term success has come from honing in on a single area of passion: early childhood development.

Kate;s “Shaping Us” campaign, launched in 2022, was described as her “life’s work” and is part of her broader effort to reshape public understanding of early years development.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!: “She has learned the craft of being royal over a number of years and earned her place as a senior member of the family. Gradually, she has also earned the respect of the public and, I believe, of the rest of the family.”
