As Meghan Markle’s launches several different businesses, an old blog post from her now-defunct site The Tig has resurfaced, bringing with it a pointed jab at Kate Middleton.
The 2014 post, written years before Meghan joined the royal family, takes a swipe at the frenzy surrounding royal weddings, particularly that of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011.
In the post, Meghan wrote the now-viral line: “Grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy,” referring to the obsession with fairy tale weddings and royal pomp. She went on to call out the “endless conversation about Princess Kate,” suggesting a clear disdain for the spectacle and media attention surrounding the royal couple’s nuptials.
In the same post, she contrasted society’s royal obsession with her own childhood admiration for strong, fictional female leads like She-Ra, whom she described as a “sword-wielding royal rebel.”
The resurfaced comments come at a time when Meghan is once again stepping into the spotlight with her As Ever brand and upcoming Netflix show With Love, Meghan.
Her new messaging hints at personal reclamation, with Meghan saying in a launch video: “I haven’t been able to share it with you in the same way for the past few years,” alluding to the restrictions she faced during her time as a working royal.
