Katy Perry returns to land from space: Everything you need to know

Pop star Katy Perry has made history after being a part of the first ever all-women crew to fly to space.

The flight was conducted by billionaire Jeff Bezos’ company Blue Horizon and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez was one of the six crew members to go to space, along with TV presenter Gayle King, Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyễ, and Kerianne Flynn.

The flight took off at 1:30 GMT and lasted for around 11 minutes, out of which the crew was in space for 4 minutes.

The American singer is now the first ever pop star to go to space and she made sure to make the moment count.

The singer took a flower with her to space which had a deeper meaning. The flower Perry took was a Daisy, which is also her daughter’s name who she co-parents with fiance Orlando Bloom.

TV presenter Gayle King, who was also on flight with the singer, confirmed that she sang a song while they were in space.

“Katy sang What a wonderful world” said the presenter, “Everybody said ‘sing Roar sing Firework’ and she said ‘its not about me, i want to talk about the world’.”
