Bill Murray opened up about the alleged misconduct incident that took place in 2022, surprisingly confessing that it wasn’t the first time it had happened.
The Riff Raff actor’s actions caused the production of Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut Being Mortal to wrap things up mid-filming.
Murray reached a settlement of $100,000 with a female crew member after she accused him of misconduct, inappropriately touching and kissing her on the mouth through masks that the two were wearing as part of COVID safety protocol at the time.
The 56-year-old candidly told The New York Times, “And I don’t know what prompted me to do it. It’s something that I had done to someone else before, and I thought it was funny. And every time it happened, it was funny.”
Murray also claimed in the interview that the woman “wasn’t a stranger” and that he had joined her for lunch on several occasions.
He went on to discuss the indefinite suspension of the movie, saying, “It still bothers me because that movie was stopped by the human rights or ‘H&R’ of the Disney corporation.”
The film was being monitored by Searchlight Films, a production company that was owned by the global entertainment giant.
Murray finished by adding that he was “disappointed” by the whole ordeal and still thinks the incident was “funny” and “stupid.”
It is important to note that the Ghostbusters star has a history of bad behaviour on set, as he threw an ashtray at co-worker Richard Dreyfuss in one instance and allegedly insulted Charlie’s Angels actress Lucy Liu in another.
