ER Nurse Hailey Okula has tragically passed away due to complications during childbirth after welcoming her first child.
The news was announced in a heartbreaking post made by her husband, Matthew on social media.
She had spoken in the past about her pregnancy and the difficulties the couple had faced due to infertility issues.
"Words can’t describe how badly we wanted to be parents," wrote her grieving husband, who is a Los Angeles Fire Department firefighter.
On April 1, he wrote, "It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share the devastating news of the unexpected passing of my beautiful wife, Hailey Marie Okula, due to complications from childbirth."
Continuing, he added, "Words cannot convey the depth of the loss I feel. Hailey was more than I could have ever dreamed of in a wife and partner."
"She was gorgeous, smart, hardworking, passionate, trustworthy, and above all else, unbelievably loyal. For nearly 13 years, she stood by my side in the hardest of times, loving me endlessly, even when I felt undeserving of that love. She was my everything," the firefighter said alongside several photographs.
After "dealing with infertility for almost two years,” the nurse shared the news that she was finally pregnant on September 17, 2024.
