Prince Harry’s noticeably minimal presence in Meghan Markle’s Netflix cooking series With Love, Meghan has sparked speculation about his role in her growing brand.
While some believe the Duke of Sussex, 40, chose to stay in the background to allow Meghan, 43, to take centre stage, one royal expert has suggested an entirely different reason.
Journalist Amanda Platell wrote in The Daily Mail that Harry’s past rebellious behavior and past drug use don’t align with Meghan’s polished new brand. She questioned whether Harry has been intentionally sidelined as Meghan repositions herself.
"Is the prince now surplus to Meghan’s media ambitions?" she wrote. "Is he the irrelevant spare we have long predicted he would become, a distraction to her new narrative?"
She added, "A past in which he (Harry) confessed he took illegal drugs doesn’t exactly suit Megs’s new image of a home-spun, perfect mom in the kitchen, exuding competence and health-giving goodness."
