Kate Middleton, Prince William, and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, are reportedly learning Welsh together, using the Duolingo app to pick up conversational skills.

GBN News reported that the Prince and Princess of Wales have been making an effort to embrace the language, with William recently delivering his first full message in Welsh for St. David’s Day.

The video, shared on Kensington Palace’s social media, showcased Wales’ landscapes and communities, with William confidently addressing viewers in Welsh.

A royal source noted that William “felt it was important” to improve his Welsh, especially after revealing last year that he was learning it phonetically rather than taking formal lessons like his father, King Charles.

William and Kate previously lived in Wales for three years while he served as an RAF search and rescue pilot, and he has often spoken about his “deep affection” for the country.

Despite Welsh being taught in all schools up to age 16, recent statistics show that only 27.7% of the population — around 851,700 people — speak the language, marking an eight-year low.
