Squid Game season two filming set will be visited by Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos in Central Korea this weekend.
The Korea Times reported that the CEO was present at a brief meet-and-greet media event in Seoul, where he revealed his plan to visit the shooting set.
"We are really excited about director Hwang’s ability for storytelling, more dynamic sets, and more mind-blowing storylines that are going to thrill the entire world," Sarandos told the media.
He went on to rave about the Squid Game team and new storyline, "I’m so impressed with the industry and vibrant storytelling, immediate industry with these incredible journalists to nurture this business and help share with us the passion for great storytelling that can change the world."
In addition to meeting the movie’s director for the first time on Saturday on the set, located in an undisclosed area in the central Chungcheong region, the Netflix co-CEO is scheduled to be visiting the visual effects company Eyeline Studios Korea under Scanline VFX, a Netflix subsidiary, later in the day.
Hwang Dong-hyuk announced in December 2023 that Squid Game is slated to return for a second season with new characters, games, and narratives.
"You can look forward to season 2 delivering a deeper story and messages with new games and new characters," Dong-hyuk said at the time.
Season two's filming is underway, during which Sarandos, who previously came to Korea in June last year, will mark his presence on the set.
Notably, the release date of the highly anticipated season has yet to be revealed.
