Arnold Schwarzenegger's new Netflix documentary series: Maria Shiver refuses to appear

Arnold Schwarzenegger's wife Maria Shriver cannot tolerate some things in her ex-husband's new Netflix documentary series.

The "Arnold" filmmaker gave an explanation for why Maria Shriver, Arnold Schwarzenegger's ex-wife, isn't featured in the documentary.

The June 7 premiere of the three-part Netflix documentary series extensively analyzes the Austrian native's transition from athlete to an American politician.

The third episode briefly mentions how Schwarzenegger and Shriver's marriage fell apart in 2011 after the bodybuilder came clean about his affair, which led to the birth of a hidden son. It also dives into his personal life.

Filmmaker Lesley Chilcott said to Yahoo Entertainment that she spoke to Shriver while producing the documentary with Schwarzenegger. "We did talk, we talked a few times," she affirmed.

She said nonetheless that Shriver "politely declined" the invitation when she urged her to take part.

The four children of Schwarzenegger and Shriver, Katherine, 33, Christina, 31, Patrick, 29, and Christopher, 25, did not contribute to the series either, but Christina does make an appearance on camera in a sequence that was shot at Schwarzenegger's Los Angeles home.

Towards the end of the last episode, Joseph Baena, the son that "The Terminator" star had with the family's housekeeper, Mildred "Patty" Baena, in 1996 while he was still married to Shriver, also makes an appearance.

He is not heard speaking on camera, but he is seen exercising with his father in a gym.
