Jessica Simpson’s finding ‘design inspiration’, Launches New Collection in Her Daisy Dukes

With her new seasonal collection, Jessica Simpson is turning up the heat as the summer approaches.

The actress, singer, and style icon Jessica Simpson Collection just debuted its newest collection of summertime tops, dresses, denim pieces, and shoe designs, and she is in full designer mode.

"I find design inspiration everywhere," Simpson, 42, shared with PEOPLE about how she thinks creatively.

She claims that inspiration will sometimes strike her at "the most random times," such as while she is listening to music or browsing through her favourite art books. Sometimes it happens without any prior planning.

"Other times," Simpson says, "it will literally be in my dreams and I wake up scrambling to write it down."

The brand's newest advertising campaign, which centres on the recently launched line, perfectly captures that appeal of adventure.

"There is a cinematic romance to the visual of the telephone booth in the middle of nowhere. I love the mood it evokes and the styling crosses over from many different generations. It's like a 1970s and 2000s moment all at once!" explains the Irresistible singer of the desert-set photo shoot.

Work is always being done in the background of any significant on-camera endeavour, and Simpson is constantly focused on it.

"My team and I are very close to the design process, so by the time the season arrives we already know what we want to shoot and have our vision for how we will shoot it."

Simpson, who recently looked thin in her corset minidress. finds it entertaining to mix and match the collection with her own vintage collectables since it allows her the chance to blend her personal style with the brand and repurpose some of her most cherished possessions.

Simpson even pulled out a pair of faded Daisy Dukes denim shorts for this campaign, styling them with the puff-sleeve Aubrey Top and iridescent Camisha Platforms. She's 'always going somewhere' in her denim shorts and platforms, so the style isn't too far from what her closet looks like.

She joked that she has a "ridiculous number" of cheeky shorts in her wardrobe, which would make her a self-described "connoisseur" of cutoffs. She still owns the hot pants she wore in The Dukes of Hazzard in 2005, saying, "I actually wore many pairs of the same shorts!"
