SXSW: Keanu Reeves receives marriage proposal at John Wick 4 screening

Keanu Reeves left a 1,000-plus audience erupting in cheers at the Paramount Theatre in Austin during the SXSW Film Festival premiere of John Wick: Chapter 4 even before the movie began playing.

After the actor made a surprise appearance at the venue he was met with unbridled enthusiasm which was mirrored throughout the movie’s two-hour-and-49-minute run with the occasional booming ovations and vocal gasps after some unexpected twists.

Following the conclusion of the movie, Reeves and John Wick 4 director Chad Stahelski appeared on stage and were welcomed with a booming reception.

"You guys are amazing," Reeves said according to Variety. 

"Thanks for that experience. You guys are f**king awesome."

Stahelski added, "This is one of the best audiences of all time."

Following that the audience was treated to a Q&A session, full of spoilers, which elicited waves of emotions throughout the crowd.

However, one of Stahelski’s answers looked back at Reeves’ return to the franchise: "It was the first day Keanu came on set. He had the suit back on and it was the first time we were back together in three years. So it was pretty special."

Much of the session went into the audience launching on long tributes and complements to the star with one jokingly asking if the actor ever grew old considering the action-packed stunts Reeves did himself.

"Yeah man, I age," he replied. 

"I really — I age. It’s happening, man."

Following that, the actor was met with a surprise proposal when he shared that he kept Wick's wedding ring and watch from the prior movies.

"I'll marry you!" an audience member shouted.

"Yeah, be careful what you wish for," Reeves replied.
