Steven Spielberg says Tom Cruise and Top Gun: Maverick’ Saved ‘Hollywood’s Ass’ and ‘the Entire Theatrical Industry’

Steven Spielberg is nothing but all praises for Tom Cruise.

At the Oscar nominees luncheon this year, Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise were reunited.

Spielberg commended his "Minority Report" and "War of the Worlds" stars for "Top Gun: Maverick's" role in protecting the theatrical picture industry.

Because of "The Fabelmans" and "Top Gun: Maverick," respectively, Spielberg and Cruise are contenders for best picture this year.

Spielberg praised Cruise in a video that was first posted on Instagram by director Kartiki Gonsalves, whose short documentary "Who Can Say No to Baby Elephants!" is up for the best documentary short film.

Spielberg remarked, “You saved Hollywood’s ass and you might have saved theatrical distribution,” Cruise blushed after that.

Spielberg added, “Seriously, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ might have saved the entire theatrical industry.”

Following "Spider-Man: No Way Home," "Top Gun: Maverick" was the second film to earn more than $1 billion at international box offices during the epidemic.

Maverick, which earned $1.48 billion, is the 11th-highest-grossing movie of all time (unadjusted for inflation). With $718 million, the film has the fifth-highest domestic box office earnings.
