Songstress Mariah Carey celebrated both Father’s Day and Juneteenth on Sunday.
The 53-year-old singer shared a picture of her 11-year-old identical twins Moroccan and Monroe embracing each other as they looked at the photos of her late father Alfred Roy Carey, who passed away in 2002.
Along with wishing Father’s Day, the singer also honored the Juneteenth holiday, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.
"Celebrate Your Black Excellence! #HappyJuneteenth #HappyFathersDay Rest in Power Alfred Roy Carey," Mariah wrote in the caption.
The singer’s father was a black man while her mother was of Irish descent.
Juneteenth is celebrated every June 19, honoring the announcement by US Army General Gordon Granger on June 19, 1865, proclaiming freedom for enslaved people in Texas, and was officially recognized as federal holiday in 2021 in the United States.
