Guillermo Del Toro drops first look at ‘Frankenstein’ trailer

Guillermo del Toro’s long-awaited Frankenstein is finally taking shape, with the first full trailer putting the spotlight on the creature himself.

“If you will not allow me love, then I will indulge rage,” declares Jacob Elordi’s monster in the trailer, offering a glimpse into a version far removed from Boris Karloff’s grunting brute in James Whale’s 1931 classic.

This time, the creature is portrayed as literate, emotional, and deeply aware of his torment, bringing the story closer to Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel.

Unlike the teaser, which centred on Victor Frankenstein’s perspective, this trailer unfolds with the monster’s narration, hinting at a darker, more introspective exploration of creation and consequence.

Oscar Isaac stars as the infamous scientist alongside Elordi’s tragic creation.

Del Toro, who has nurtured this passion project for over a decade, described it as “the culmination of a journey that has occupied most of my life” when speaking at Netflix’s Tudum event, adding, “Monsters have become my personal belief system. There are strands of Frankenstein through my films.”

Netflix will release Frankenstein in theatres on November 7.
