Pop rebel Charli XCX is swapping chart hits for the big screen and she’s doing it in style.
The 33-year-old hitmaker is among the headline-grabbing names unveiled for the 73rd Sydney Film Festival, with organisers teasing a star-studded programme ahead of its June launch.
The festival will run from June 3 to 14, promising a glittering mix of global cinema, bold storytelling and A-list talent.
Charli takes centre stage in Erupcja, directed by Pete Ohs, marking a major acting moment for the pop powerhouse.
And she’s not alone as Hollywood heavyweights are lining up across the slate.
Acclaimed filmmaker Gus Van Sant is bringing Dead Man’s Wire, starring Bill Skarsgård, Dacre Montgomery and screen legend Al Pacino.
Meanwhile, the late icon Marianne Faithfull is honoured in documentary Broken English, featuring insights from Tilda Swinton and George MacKay.
Festival-goers can also expect award-winning brilliance, including Berlin Golden Bear winner Yellow Letters by İlker Çatak and Sundance favourite Filipiñana from Rafael Manuel.
French cinema royalty Isabelle Huppert appears in the gothic drama The Blood Countess, while Silent Friend pairs Tony Leung Chiu-wai with Léa Seydoux.
Festival director Nashen Moodley teased an “electrifying” line-up, promising unforgettable voices from across the globe.
For the Official hitmaker, it’s yet another reinvention.
