Charli XCX achieved a significant milestone at the Brit Awards 2025 as she was named Songwriter of the Year.
The 32-year-old singer has been nominated previously, but she never won. However, this year she left her competitors behind with her first win.
The musician received the prestigious award for her headline-making album, Brat.
Previously, Charli disapproved of the Brits for not having any female nominees for the Artist of the Year category in 2023. "We're doing everything right, I don't think it's our fault, I think it might be theirs," she said.
The Brit Committee is being chaired by Damian Christian in 2025, who is also the president of promotions at Atlantic Records.
In a press statement, he showered praise on the Guess singer, congratulating Charli on her “much deserved” win.
He stated, “Charli’s songwriting is distinctive, bold and relentlessly innovative, and, having been one of the UK's leading songwriters for a number of years now, has taken her craft to new heights with her global phenomenon Brat".
Moreover, the Popstar’s longtime collaborator A. G. Cook, who worked alongside her on Brat, also swept the competition with his win as Producer of the Year.
Addressing his achievement to the media, the musician shared that he was “flattered to be recognized by the BRITs.”
It is important to note that the Brit Awards are set to take place on March 1st at the O2 Arena in London.
