Rock icon Chrissie Hynde has dropped a bombshell for fans that she “may never tour again”.
The The Pretenders frontwoman, 74, has revealed she’s seriously considering stepping away from life on the road, blasting the sea of mobile phones held aloft at concerts.
Speaking candidly, she admitted the constant filming has killed the vibe for her on stage.
She fumed that the energy at gigs is “disrupted”, adding she just can’t handle performing to a crowd glued to screens instead of the moment.
And it’s not just concerts getting on her nerves.
The Brass in Pocket hitmaker said even a visit to the National Gallery left her frustrated, as visitors blocked her view of The Starry Night by snapping photos non-stop.
Hynde, a huge admirer of Vincent van Gogh, admitted the experience has put her off exhibitions altogether.
Despite her gripes, the rocker still enjoys the simple things, like slipping into the cinema alone, where she can walk out mid-film without awkward debates.
But it’s not just phones testing her patience.
Hynde also took aim at die-hard fans who follow the band across the globe, saying seeing the same faces front row night after night makes shows feel repetitive.
She previously sparked backlash by urging regulars to step aside and “give local fans a chance” but she’s not backing down.
In fact, she doubled down with a blunt message to critics: if you don’t agree, tough.
