Zayn Malik added a song Nusrat in his upcoming album Konnakol, confusing everyone what does the title signify.
As the 33-year-old singer has a mix heritage being half Pakistani and British, he did not shy away from honouring his desi roots in recent interview.
In a new video, the One Direction alum was made to hear a song and guess the musician. He instantly gushed: “Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. I’ve got a song on my record called Nusrat.”
The singer admitted, “I named [the song] after him.” He further explained the legacy of the Pakistani composer, revealing that “Jeff Buckley was weirdly… inspired by Nusrat Ali Khan.”
According to Zayn, Jeff used to listen to a lot of the later singer’s music which pushed him to “do like weird drums and stuff.”
The American musician would sample the song of one of the influential South Asian singers of all time.
The Dusk Till Dawn crooner described his upcoming album, talking about the title Konnakol which means to make “percussion sounds, with your voice.”
He used his voice to make the music on the new additions to his discography, “singing over the top of it.”
Zayn has released two singles Die For Me and Sideways from the record before dropping the entire album on April 17, 2026.
