J.Cole is opening up about his seventh studio album The Fall-Off and how it almost featured Kendrick Lamar on it in a major way.
The Who TF Iz U rapper and the Euphoria rapper were embroiled briefly in a rap feud, which is likely the reason that the 27-time Grammy winner cannot be heard on the double-disc album.
In an appearance on Cam’ron’s Talk With Flee, the 41-year-old stated, “I had The Fall-Off finished. I probably had to tweak a couple of mixes.”
“At that time, I had been working on The Fall-Off, which was done, and by the way, somebody leaked it. I know who leaked it — it’s cool he put it out there. [Kendrick] was on two joints,” Cole added.
The Two Six rapper also revealed his reaction to Kendrick’s diss verse against him on Like That with Metro Boomin and Future.
Cole dished that his initial reaction to the track was that the verse was tough and so was the beat, and that the Luther singer went crazy on it.
The No Role Modelz rapper noted that after a second listen he realised that the roast was not good for him since he had just gotten off of tour with Drake.
