Jennifer Garner is back, but not quite as we remember her.
The 53-year-old actress, who charmed audiences as awkward teen-turned-magazine-editor Jenna Rink in the 2004 rom-com classic 13 Going on 30, is now stepping into a new role as executive producer for Netflix’s highly anticipated reboot.
The remake will star Emily Bader and Logan Lerman, and is being directed by Brett Haley, known for People We Met on Vacation.
Haley gushed about the project, saying: “13 Going on 30 is one of those rare, perfect films. Funny, emotional, deeply human, with unforgettable performances from Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo and Judy Greer.
Jennifer being on board as an executive producer, after playing such a big part of what made the original special, is especially meaningful.”
Fans can expect the same heart and humour, with a fresh spin for a new generation.
The 42-year-old filmmaker added he’s thrilled about his cast, calling Bader and Lerman “a magical pairing” and admitting he feels “incredibly lucky” to handle a story that means so much to so many.
Jennifer recently opened up about reuniting with her longtime friend and 13 Going on 30 co-star Judy Greer on Apple TV’s The Last Thing He Told Me.
“Judy and I have been friends ever since 13 Going on 30… She’s carried me through the last 20 years, and I’ve a little bit carried her,” the 53-year-old actress told Metro.
She praised their onscreen chemistry, saying working with another strong woman challenged her to “up my game.”
The Elektra actress is also busy on The Last Thing He Told Me, which sees her character Hannah chasing answers after her husband’s disappearance, tangled up with crime families and high-stakes drama.
Jennifer promises the new season “offers more of the same, deeper, better,” giving fans both thrills and heart.
