Maya Hawke is for a new role after her spectacular performance as Robin in Stranger Things.
The Inside Out actress will be starring in upcoming limited series The God of the Woods, based on the acclaimed novel by Liz Moore on Netflix.
She will play the role of Judy Luptack, a sharp and quietly determined investigator navigating a world that would rather she stay on the side line.
As the first female investigator in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Judy is tasked with solving the disappearance of a young girl from a summer camp in the Adirondacks, a case that quickly reveals itself to be anything but straightforward.
The series is described as a multi-generational drama set against the dense, whispering backdrop of the Adirondack wilderness.
At its centre lies the powerful Van Laar family, whose legacy begins to fracture following the disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar. The case echoes an earlier tragedy within the family, hinting at buried secrets that refuse to stay buried.
Moore co-writes the adaptation alongside Liz Hannah, with both serving as co-showrunners and executive producers.
There is no confirmed release date yet for The God of the Woods limited series.
