Alex Warren has revealed the terrifying moment he feared his music career might be over.
The 25-year-old singer, known for his energetic stage presence, was hit by major technical issues during his live set, leaving him struggling to hear himself and battling a confusing sound mix.
Speaking to People, Alex admitted the experience left him “horrified” and questioning his future in the industry.
“To this day, I don’t know exactly what happened,” he confessed.
“They’re like, ‘30 seconds,’ and I said, ‘I can’t hear anything. I can’t hear myself,’ and the guy’s like, ‘It’s live TV, 25 seconds,’ and I go, ‘Guys, something’s wrong.’ Something gets blasted into my left ear, and my right ear I hear nothing.”
Despite frantic efforts from his team, nothing seemed to work.
“I start singing, and all I’m hearing is what’s from the other room — like a crowd mic or something,” he explained.
“Then I get down to the steps, and suddenly I start hearing echoing in the right ear. I take it out, and that made it worse — stupidly.”
The Ordinary hitmaker feared a backlash from fans and industry insiders, worrying everyone had turned against him.
Yet, to his relief, support poured in instead.
“I was really surprised by so many people coming up to me that day,” he said.
“You kind of walk into that room and think everyone hates you for some reason.”
He previously spoke about the ordeal on the Call Her Daddy podcast, describing rehearsals as “perfect” and still bewildered by how the live performance went so wrong.
