Jacob Young is getting candid about a dangerous addiction to drugs, as well as other vices and how he got on them.
The General Hospital star revealed that after experiencing fame from his role in the show and other projects he got into drinking and was surrounded by the wrong people when he began using cocaine.
In an appearance on the Imperfectly Perfect Podcast, the 46-year-old stated that he had given up these things by the time he married his wife Christen Steward, but a dental surgery and its resultant prescription drug, Vicodin, lead to another addiction.
"I went through seven years of my life, wasted on opioids — still trying to figure out what was wrong with me, but I didn't know. It was just needing to numb... It was the only thing that made me feel normal,” Jacob stated.
The All My Children actor added that nobody knew about this addiction, not even his wife, but at some point he came clean to her and decided to receive counseling to overcome the issue.
Notably, Jacob also dished that the need to cope with his tumultuous upbringing is at the root of substance abuse issues.
