Timothee Chalamet’s film Marty Supreme is heading towards its streaming premiere.
Following the award run HBO MAX announced that Josh Safdie’s acclaimed drama is set to begin streaming on its platform.
The movie follows Marty Mauser (Chalamet), an ambitious table tennis player in New York during the 1950s who is willing to do whatever it takes to become a world champion.
The project included Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma (aka Tyler, the Creator), Abel Ferrara, Fran Drescher, Luke Manley and Koto Kawaguchi.
Safdie helmed the film from a script he co-wrote with Ronald Bronstein. It also received nine Academy Award nominations including best actor for Chalamet.
However, the Little Women star only won a Golden Globe and was heavily scrutinized over the comment he made about not wanting to be involved in an art form that “no one cares about” and citing ballet and opera as examples.
The remarks were referenced at multiple points throughout the Oscar telecast.
Marty Supreme is slated to be streamed on April 24 onwards.
