Anna Sawai opened up about how things has changed in her career after her history making win as the first Asian descent to win Outstanding Lead Actress in Drama series, Shogun.

Pachinko actress enrolled in J-pop boot camp at the age of 14 and trained through high school and college. In 2013 she made her debut as one of the lead vocalists of the girl group Faky.

After leaving the band in 2018, she focused on her other skills and landed in roles in movie F9 and Pahinko.

Following her breakthrough role in Shogun and the big win, in conversation with People magazine, discussing the big change she brought in her career since then.

"In the beginning, you audition for what’s available and take the roles that you’re offered," she said. "Now I get to read the scripts and decide for myself."

She added that now after winning an award he has realised how much her choices and decision mean to other people.

Explaining her point, she said that its like "'Okay, if I choose this, then maybe girls will be inspired by it.' I realize the weight of my choices now."

Lately she is being tackling with her biggest challenging role yet, playing Yoko Ono, wife of John Lennon (Harris Dickson) in the upcoming Sam Mendes the Beatles biopic.

The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event starring Dickinson, Paul Mescal (Paul McCartney), Joseph Quinn (George Harrison) and Barry Keoghan (Ringo Starr).
