Kris Jenner is telling the back story of how her youngest daughter has created a beauty empire - and even showed her mom how it should be done.
In her first appearance on the SmartLess podcast Monday, the 70-year-old momager is reflecting on how, in 2015, a then-17-year-old Kylie approached her with a vision to start Kylie Cosmetics.
Kris remembered, "She goes, 'Mom, I know what I want to do for the rest of my life, and it's beauty,'"
As Kris was scrambling to organize traditional promotion using advertisements in PEOPLE Magazine, billboards, her daughter had different plans.
"I said, 'So, what are we doing about the marketing?'" the 70-year-old recollected. "She goes, 'Are we okay, mom? Like, I know what I'm doing. Just relax.'"
The veteran American media personality even confessed that she was watching her teenage invest her personal earnings in Keeping Up with the Kardashians with trepidation.
The 28-year-old beauty mogul and mother of two sophisticatedly moved by her instinct.
"I'll never forget the morning she launched,", Kris said. "She pressed send on the link... I think it was 4 seconds, and we thought the site crashed. It was just sold out in seconds."
The brand evolved into a sensation, as in 2019, Kylie sold most of its shares worth half a billion dollars.
The founder is currently marking the 10th anniversary of the makeup house and has her eyes on the future of her 8-year-old daughter, Stormi.
