Adrian Grenier revealed rare insights about why he isn’t returning for the sequel.

During his latest chat, the 49-year-old actor candidly confessed about the next part of Devil Wears Prada, saying, "I wanted to participate in the sequel."

In an interview with Page Six, the Drive Me Crazy star stated, "So it's obviously disappointing not to have received an offer to appear."

He continued, "I know there was public backlash against the character 'Nate,' and I think that likely influenced the decision not to include me."

Additionally, he shared thoughts on the criticism of his character, noting that Nate Cooper was blamed for not standing by his girlfriend Andy (Anne Hathaway) in her professional life.

A viral meme even labeled him "the real villain" instead of editor Miranda Priestly.

On that, the actor admitted, "At first that reaction was shocking, but over time I recognized the truth reflected in the public's view," adding, "I think I was as immature as Nate at the time, so I didn't see the character's subtle flaws."

For the unfamiliar, in the original story, Adrian’s character Nate travels to Chicago to go after his dream of becoming a chef.

Notably, Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep will return in the sequel, which will hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
