Actor Adrian Grenier from the original The Devil Wears Prada film will not be returning for the sequel, according to Entertainment Weekly.

He had played the role of Nate Cooper, the boyfriend to main character Andy Sacha, played by Anne Hathaway.

An announcement was made by 20th Century Studios in June that the production for the movie has already started.

Making a return to the project will be Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna.

“With an aspiration to become a journalist, Andy, a young graduate, travels to New York. She starts working as an assistant to one of the city's biggest magazine editors, the cynical Miranda Priestly,” reads the synopsis of the original movie.

In a 2021 interview with Entertainment Weekly at the reunion of the film’s cast and crew, he admitted that his character can be seen as the villain, "All those memes that came out were shocking to me. It hadn't occurred to me until I started to really think about it, and perhaps it was because I was as immature as Nate was at the time, and in many ways he's very selfish and self-involved, it was all about him, he wasn't extending himself to support Andy in her career."
