Hilary Duff opened up about her on-going family struggles.
Lizzie McGuire star shared that her family struggles goes beyond the estranged relationship with her sister.
Following her release of new album, Luck… or Something, the Younger actress who has already opened up about personal issues like her marriage and rift with her sister, shared more insight into her family conflict.
During her appearance at the On Purpose with Jay Shetty, where she revealed that the song, The Optimist is about the rift with her parents.
"I think being very vulnerable and open about what it's like to be in a family that your parents aren't together, and you don't have relationships with both of your parents," she said.
Expressing her sadness and emotional longing for parental love, the We Don’t Talk singer added, "It's devastating. It doesn't matter what age you are; you want your parents to feel like they care about you."
She continued, "And a big portion of my existence hasn't felt like that."
Duff admitted that while she doesn’t know the real reason behind it, but that’s how she feels about it.
Talking about her new album in relation to her family struggles, Duff said, "As painful as it feels to share, when I decided to make this record, I could only talk about the things that I’ve gone through."
Luck… or Something was released on February 20.
