BTS are set to bring central Seoul to a complete standstill as the K-pop giants prepare for their long-awaited full-group comeback on March 21 at Gwanghwamun Square.

Officials are bracing for roughly 260,000 fans to descend on the area, prompting one of the largest crowd-control operations the city has ever staged.

Around 3,400 safety personnel will be on duty, following high-level plans finalised by Oh Se-hoon, who warned agencies to prepare for an event of “unprecedented scale.”

For millions of ARMY fans worldwide, this marks the group’s first performance together in nearly four years, making the anticipation electric.

Police will patrol the square and surrounding streets a day early to prevent overnight camping and stop illegal vendors from blocking key routes.

Fire and disaster teams will position 99 fire trucks and 765 personnel across three major zones to respond instantly to any emergency.

Transport in central Seoul will be heavily restricted.

Subway stations at Gwanghwamun Station, City Hall Station, and Gyeongbokgung Station will close temporarily, while trains pass through without stopping.

Bus routes will be diverted, and 12 extra subway services will run later to ease post-concert crowds.

Notably, the city is boosting multilingual support with ens of thousands of international fans expected.

Emergency alerts and travel updates will be issued in Korean and English, while digital maps and guides in several languages will help visitors find toilets, information centres, and navigate the packed streets.

Around 70 tour guides and 600 volunteers will be stationed throughout the district.

Mayor Oh said the city’s work “only ends when the very last citizen has returned home safely,” hoping global visitors leave believing Seoul’s safety standards are “on a different level.”
