Ryan Gosling opened up about his experience filming Project Hail Mary.
The Barbie actor will star as science teacher, Ryland Grace, who sent into space on a one-way mission to save Earth from a star-eating parasite who is consuming sun's energy.
He befriends an alien named "Rocky" who help him solve the case.
In an interview with Extra TV, he discussed how filming this particular project was not an easy job.
The Notebook actor noted, "Everything about this was a challenge and that, but that at the end of the day was, that's the story. I mean, everything in the story is hard for these characters."
Talking about the characters' hardships, he said that they are trying to find a solution to the problem and save the world. They are relying on experimentation, scientific methods and learning from mistakes.
The Oscar nominee went on to share details about Ryland Grace's pet alien rock.
"We were trying to make this insane movie with a practical puppet as an alien who comes with his own glam squad and he's very high maintenance and everything," he said.
Gosling continued that despite it being a handful creature, "he's worth it."
In conclusion he called the filming a "once in a lifetime experience" which was worth all the hustle.
Project Hail Mary is slated for release on March 20.
