Britney Spears has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Ventura County, California, marking the latest controversy in the singer’s often-public personal life.

Authorities confirmed that the 44-year-old star was taken into custody on the night of March 4 before being released several hours later under a “cite and release” process.

According to law enforcement records, Spears was booked by the California Highway Patrol and released early the following morning. She is expected to appear in court on May 4 as the legal process continues.

As per Daily Mail, the incident quickly drew comparisons to the long list of celebrities who have faced DUI arrests in Hollywood over the years, including socialite and media personality Paris Hilton, whose highly publicized legal troubles in the mid-2000s became a defining moment of the era’s celebrity culture.

Following news of the arrest, Spears appeared to deactivate her Instagram account, sparking further speculation among fans online.

Moreover, the singer has frequently stepped away from social media during periods of intense public attention.

The development came after several major changes in Spears’ life in recent years, including the end of her 13-year conservatorship in 2021 and the sale of her music catalogue earlier this year.

While representatives for the Grammy-winning star have yet to release a detailed statement, the incident has once again placed Spears at the center of global media scrutiny, a position she has occupied for much of her decades-long career in the spotlight.
