Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer set the record straight about Johnny Depp's return in the upcoming sixth instalment of the franchise.
The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory star's upcoming film has been in different production stages since 2017.
It has been uncertain due to his public defamation case against ex-wife, Amber Heard. However, Disney still wants him to reprise the role as Jack Sparrow after he won the trial.
While speaking with The Direct at the press line at the Producers Guild Awards (PGA), Jerry Bruckheimer, who attended the event as a nominated producer for F1, was asked if the new project will be moving onwards with Depp.
"First of all, that's not true. No, no, no. Johnny... if it's up to me, he'll be in it," he said.
Bruckheimer is a consistent producer of Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise and has massive influence over how the sixth film comes together.
While fans are excited to see Johnny Depp back in Jack Sparrow shoes the rumours are that the next movie's focus will be on Jack Sparrow's son.
While release date is yet to be announced, project is in developments.
