Jamie Lee Curtis has shared a heartfelt tribute to her “first crush” Robert Carradine after news of his death at the age of 71.
The 67-year-old Hollywood star revealed she woke up to the devastating news on Monday and was flooded with memories of their brief romance and the “little family” they once shared with his daughter, Ever.
Taking to Instagram, Jamie recalled the very first time they met, live on television during an appearance on The Dinah Shore Show.
She fondly described how Robert cheekily rearranged the seating so he could sit beside her before planting a kiss on her in front of the cameras.
“A very public meet cute,” she wrote.
Their bond quickly deepened beyond the spotlight.
Freakier Friday actress remembered meeting his three-year-old daughter Ever in a burn unit after the little girl suffered a serious accident.
Despite being wrapped in gauze, Ever’s bright smile left a lasting impression.
The trio went on to build what Jamie called a “little family” in a dirt-floored home in Laurel Canyon during the late 70s.
She described it as her first real taste of domestic life, doing laundry, walking to the local market, and folding Ever’s tiny clothes.
She later realised he had been her childhood movie crush after spotting him in The Cowboys and he would go on to star alongside her husband, Christopher Guest, in The Long Riders.
“Rest in speed and humour and love, Bobby,” she wrote.
