Chris Hemsworth may be a Hollywood heavyweight, but these days it’s the simple life Down Under that’s making him feel like a true winner.

The 42-year-old actor has revealed that relocating his family to Australia was a “great decision” and one that’s brought a sense of calm he never quite found in Los Angeles.

Chris, who shares daughter India, 13, and 11-year-old twin sons Sasha and Tristan with wife Elsa Pataky, said the move came shortly after his boys were born.

Speaking on the Smartless podcast, the Thor star admitted they were “set up in L.A. and not enjoying it”, especially as most of his filming work was taking place elsewhere.

So the family packed up and headed home to Australia and they haven’t looked back since.

Born in Melbourne, the Extraction actor says coming home now “feels like a holiday”.

Instead of red carpets and traffic jams, he returns to a sprawling farm, complete with horses, motorbikes and plenty of surf.

It’s a lifestyle that mirrors his own childhood growing up in the hills, far from the bustle of suburbia.

Despite fronting massive franchises like Thor and appearing in blockbusters such as Star Trek and Snow White and the Huntsman, Chris says his definition of success has shifted.

He once believed awards and record-breaking films would bring fulfilment.

Now, he admits that mindset was “absurd”.
