Former child star Zachery Ty Bryan has been sentenced to 16 months behind bars after his latest drink-driving offence, marking another troubling chapter for the one-time sitcom favourite.

The 44-year-old, best known for playing Brad Taylor opposite Tim Allen in hit 90s comedy Home Improvement, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence after his 2024 arrest.

Court documents reveal Bryan admitted to having a blood alcohol content of 0.15 – nearly double the legal limit of 0.08.

With two previous DUI convictions already on his record, the judge refused probation and handed down a 16-month county jail sentence.

He has been credited with 57 days already served but will still need to address out-of-county warrants linked to the case once he completes his term.

It’s far from the first time the former teen idol has faced legal woes.

In July 2023, he was charged with felony assault and robbery, serving seven days in jail.

Earlier, in 2020, he was arrested following a domestic violence dispute and later pleaded guilty to misdemeanour menacing and assault, receiving 36 months’ bench probation and mandatory participation in a recovery programme.

Speaking to TMZ in November 2025, Bryan reflected candidly on his struggles, admitting that childhood fame “left scars”.

He confessed that being thrust into the spotlight at nine brought pressures he “wasn’t equipped to handle.”

Meanwhile, Allen previously told The Hollywood Reporter that Bryan was once “a great kid” who had grown into “a complex man.”
