Tom Hanks is set to star as America's 16th president, Abraham Lincoln.
The film will be an adaptation of the novel Lincoln in the Bardo, written by George Saunders.
As per Deadline, it will be a hybrid movie combining live-action filmmaking and stop-motion animation.
In addition to starring, the A Man Called Otto star will also produce the film through his Playtone label with partner Gary Goetzman. Meanwhile, the project will be produced by filmmaker Duke Johnson.
As per the outlet, the motion picture will "explore one of the most intimate moments of Lincoln’s life, centring his relationship with his recently deceased 11-year-old son."
This is not the first time the Forest Gump actor will be portraying a real life character.
Previously he has starred in, 2013's Saving Mr. Banks, Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger in 2016's Sully and Fred Rodgers in 2019's A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.
He has also served as a narrator on the 2011 television program Killing Lincoln, a docudrama about John Wilkes Booth's assassination of Lincoln.
While there is no further report on the new film, among Hanks other upcoming screen projects he is reprising the role as Woody in Toy Story 5 , releasing June 19, and a sequel to his 2020 WWII naval drama Greyhound.
