Ashley Tisdale is hitting pause, not just on friendships, but on her phone too.
The 40-year-old actress and mum-of-two has revealed she’s taking “regular breaks” from social media to protect her peace, amid the ongoing chatter surrounding her explosive “toxic” mum group essay.
In a candid new blog post shared on Monday, Ashley admitted that while she loves social media “in a lot of ways”, it can also leave her feeling mentally drained.
She confessed, promoting the post on Instagram Stories with a cosy snap of herself in pyjamas sipping coffee in bed: “I love social media, but I don’t think it’s where we’re meant to live our lives.”
In her blog, titled Does Your Brain Feel Too Busy? Take A Social Media Break, the High School Musical star reflected on how posting had once become “automatic”.
She’d snap a photo and instantly think about uploading it rather than actually enjoying the moment.
“When I’m off social media, I’m more with my friends, more with my kids, more in the moment,” she wrote.
“Those moments are better when I’m not holding my phone at arm’s length trying to look casual.”
The former Disney darling said the “sheer volume of information” online is what truly “wears out” her brain.
Stepping away, she explained, gave her the “gift of perspective”.
Her comments come after her viral essay for The Cut, in which she detailed walking away from a “toxic” mum group.
Though no names were confirmed, fans speculated about famous faces including Hilary Duff and Meghan Trainor.
A source later downplayed the drama, insisting it was simply a “misalignment of values”.
