Robert Carradine, who is known for his roles in movies and TV shows, breathed his last at the age of 71 after losing a tough battle.

The news of his sad passing was confirmed in a statement by his family.

They announced the death of the Hollywood star, calling him “a beacon of light to everyone around him.”

According to the announcement, The Long Riders star was struggling “against his nearly two-decade battle with Bipolar Disorder.”

The family members are hoping his “journey can shine a light and encourage addressing the stigma that attached to mental illness.” They ask for privacy during these difficult times.

The Cowboys star reportedly died by suicide after losing his long battle to Bipolar disorder. Robert, member of the Carradine, debuted in TV series with Bonanza.

Apart from continuing the legacy of his family, the actor carved out his own pathway as he started out on the big screen with a role in The Cowboys, working with John Wayne.

He also was a part of the Academy Award-winning Coming Home before acting with his brothers David and Keith in The Long Riders.

Robert was diagnosed with BPD after his brother passed away, which he described as a trigger for the disorder.

Bipolar disorder is defined as a mental health condition which results in extreme mood swings, mania or hypomania.
