Sophie Turner and Kit Harington are swapping Westeros for the Dark Ages in the new horror drama The Dreadful.

Most importantly, director Natasha Kermani says their past on Game of Thrones only adds a spicy “forbidden fruit” twist.

The pair, who famously played half-siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow, now play childhood friends-turned-lovers Anne and Jago in the War of the Roses-set film.

Natasha told Variety: “These characters were always childhood friends. Now here they are as adults, reevaluating their relationship… there’s a bit of a love triangle, so there is a forbidden fruit feeling. I think it’s interesting that it worked out that way.”

Sophie, stars as Anne, living with her formidable mother-in-law, Morwen (Marcia Gay Harden), while her husband is away at war.

Natasha praised her star’s performance, saying the 30-year-old actress brought “strength and steeliness from the first scene.”

Dark Phoenix actress added depth and intuition to a character she initially imagined as more “childlike.”

Meanwhile, Kit, 39, admitted he felt “odd” kissing his pal on screen.

Speaking to E! News, he revealed: “It was slightly embarrassing, having to get on an apple box to kiss her because she's about a foot taller than me.

But our friendship completely ignited again. It felt like being with family.”

Fans will be delighted to see the former Game of Thrones co-stars share the screen again and this time navigating love, danger, and dark secrets rather than royal intrigue.
