Sophie Turner has made a brutally honest confession about motherhood, fame and feeling left behind in Hollywood.

The 29-year-old actress, widely recognised for her iconic role in the Game of Thrones, has admitted her acting career “stalled” after she became a mum at a young age.

She said that she had to work hard to rebuild her professional momentum.

For those unfamiliar, Sophie shares daughters Willa, five, and Delphine, three, with her ex-husband Joe Jonas.

Speaking candidly, the Dark Phoenix actress revealed that stepping away from the spotlight to raise her children was both beautiful and challenging.

While she loved “nesting” at home and not worrying about her biological clock, Sophie said the long break was worsened by Covid and it came at a cost.

“You don’t realise how important momentum is in a career,” she admitted. “I stalled it a bit.”

The Staircase star also reflected on growing up in the public eye after landing her breakout role as Sansa Stark as a teenager.

She confessed she sometimes wishes she’d learned her craft on a smaller project instead of one of the biggest TV shows in history.

“Imagine learning to sing and all your lessons being broadcast,” she said, calling the experience “embarrassing” and admitting imposter syndrome still follows her.

After Game of Thrones, Sophie was repeatedly offered similar princess and fantasy roles but she turned many down in a bid to find herself outside the shadow of Sansa.

She added that becoming a mum and living a full life has actually made her a better actress.

“You need experiences to draw on,” she said. “Now I understand emotions I once had to guess.”
