Amanda Seyfried is beaming with pride as she celebrates a wave of films created for and by women.
The 40-year-old actress, currently starring in The Housemaid alongside Sydney Sweeney and in The Testament of Ann Lee, told reporters at the Berlin Film Festival that she’s “100 percent behind both movies”, despite their very different stories.
“At the end of the day, I love that they’re both about strength of character,” Amanda said.
“Women with needs and who are activated by those needs and by the need for equality and safety in the world.”
She added that the timing of both releases thrilled her.
The Mamma Mia! actress explained that the films were not only thrilling for her as an actor but also meaningful, as they carry a message.
She noted that audiences are showing up to watch because these movies are being made with women in mind.
She also opened up about what draws her to a project.
She considers whether a project is truly worth stepping away from her children and looks for opportunities that allow her to grow as an artist and discover more about herself.
Meanwhile, the Mean Girls actress gushed over co-star Sydney, calling her a “sweetheart” and praising her ability to navigate sudden fame.
She warned that overnight stardom can be “dangerous” but praised the 28-year-old actress’s professionalism, saying, “She always has a smile on her face, even if she’s miserable. I hope it doesn’t change. I hope she doesn’t harden.”
