Amanda Seyfried recently dismissed Academy Award hype.

In a New Yorker interview, the 40-year-old was asked if winning an Oscar at some point is "important" to her.

The Housemaid star frankly punched, saying, “No. Do you remember who won in the past 10 years?”

She added, “It’s not the win that’s important. It’s the nomination. It does thrust you forward. That’s a fact.”

Notably, the mother of two secured her first Oscar nomination in 2021 for portraying Hollywood starlet Marion Davies in the David Fincher-directed biopic Mank

The star was nominated for her work in The Testament of Ann Lee at this year’s Golden Globes and Critics' Choice Awards.

Notably, she had no nominations at the 2026 Academy Awards ceremony; however, it was purported that the star would receive nominations for her portrayal in the epic historical musical drama.

“Do I need [an Oscar nomination] in a week or two or whenever? No, of course, I don’t. Would it be great? Of course it would, for every reason,” marked Seyfried.

“But it isn’t necessary. … I’ve gotten this far without an Oscar. Why would I need one now?” adding, “For me, all of it is art.”

The Mean Girls star went on to explain, “We all have ebbs and flows in our careers, and how we’re perceived can change from day to day, but I’m consistent in my choices and I’m consistent in my values and my needs."

Oscars were initiated on May 16, 1929 and will mark the 97th ceremony this year.
