Rita Ora has revealed she recites mantras to herself in the mirror every day to deal with the harsh world of social media.
The 35-year-old singer admitted that nasty online comments can “cut,” but insists she tells herself she “can’t control” what others say and tries not to dwell on it.
Speaking in her new Instagram series, Rita, she said: “You can’t be afraid of something you can’t control.
You can’t control it, stop thinking about it. These are the mantras I say to myself every day in the mirror.”
The Masked Singer actress, who teamed up with Meta for the series, also reflected on the pressures of fame.
“Being on social media puts you under a definite microscope. Every tiny thing gets magnified, and everyone can see through the walls,” she explained, adding that doubts about herself actually help her create “good” music.
“I like rehearsing and I like practising and perfecting my craft,” she said.
Her mother, Vera Sahatçiu, reflected on seeing her daughter’s rise to fame, saying that her main concern has always been Rita’s happiness.
She explained that while she loved seeing her daughter enjoy her talent and pursue what she loved, as a mother she couldn’t help but worry about the pressures and challenges of the public spotlight.
In the episode, titled Mantras, Rita urged kindness online, writing in an Instagram caption: “Words can cut deep. Be kind to one another. Rita, Episode 4 is out now.”
